MOUN Lighting Studio (“MOUN”, “we”, “us”) is a lighting studio and showroom in Jakarta, operated as a sole proprietorship. We treat the details you share with us with the same care we give to the pieces we light your spaces with. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022, “UU PDP”) and its implementing regulations.
Your agreement
By sending us an enquiry, booking a visit, applying for a trade account, placing an order or otherwise sharing personal data with us, you confirm that you have read this policy and agree that we may collect and use your personal data as described in it. If you share details about another person, such as a client or colleague, please make sure they are happy for you to do so.
You can withdraw your agreement at any time, as explained in section 7. Nothing in this policy limits the rights you have under Indonesian law.
1. Who is responsible for your data
MOUN Lighting Studio is the data controller for personal data collected through mouncollection.com, our showroom and our WhatsApp and email channels.

2. The data we collect
- Project enquiries. Your name, studio or company, WhatsApp number, email address, your role (for example architect, designer or homeowner), the type of space, the products and services you are interested in, your project stage and timeline, and any notes you add.
- Conversations. Messages you send us on WhatsApp or by email, and notes our team makes to follow up on your project.
- Showroom and virtual appointments. Your name, contact details and preferred date and time.
- Trade accounts. Your company name, profession, business contact details and, if you share it, your portfolio or project references.
- Orders and deliveries. When our online store opens: your billing and delivery addresses, order history and delivery instructions. Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment provider; MOUN does not see or store your full card number.
- Website usage. Technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected through server logs and the cookies described in section 8.
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send us, sensitive personal data such as health, religious, biometric or financial account information.
3. Why we use it, and on what basis
- To answer your enquiry and advise on your project, including sending catalogues, specifications and quotations. Basis: your consent, given when you send us an enquiry, and steps you ask us to take before entering a contract.
- To arrange showroom visits and prepare the Experience Room for you. Basis: your consent.
- To open and manage a trade account, including verifying that you are a professional. Basis: performance of our agreement with you.
- To process, deliver and support orders, including warranty and after-sales service. Basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep invoices and records as tax and company law require. Basis: legal obligation.
- To keep our website secure and prevent spam and fraud. Basis: our legitimate interests.
- To send news about new collections and events, only if you have agreed to receive it. You can stop these messages at any time.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decisions that significantly affect you.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal data only as far as each service needs it:
- Website hosting and email, which store our website, enquiries and mailbox.
- Messaging: if you contact us on WhatsApp, your messages are also handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy terms.
- Payment providers, which process payments securely on our behalf.
- Couriers and logistics partners, which receive your name, phone number and delivery address to deliver your order.
- Installers and project partners, only when you ask us to coordinate installation or work with your contractor.
- Professional advisers and authorities, such as accountants, lawyers, or government bodies when the law requires it.
Each provider may use your data only to perform its service for us and must protect it.
5. Transfers outside Indonesia
Some of our service providers, such as our hosting and messaging providers, may store or process data on servers outside Indonesia. When this happens, we rely on the transfer mechanisms permitted under UU PDP and its implementing regulations, and we choose providers that apply data protection standards at least equivalent to Indonesian law.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries and conversations: up to 2 years after our last contact with you, unless they become part of an order or a trade account.
- Trade accounts: while your account is active, and up to 2 years after it closes.
- Orders, invoices and payment records: for the period required by Indonesian tax and company law, generally 10 years.
- Website logs: no longer than needed for security, usually under 12 months.
When the retention period ends, we delete or anonymise the data.
7. Your rights
Under UU PDP you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you, why, and how it is used;
- give you access to, or a copy of, your personal data;
- correct or update data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- stop processing, delete or destroy your data;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out;
- restrict or postpone processing;
- object to decisions based solely on automated processing; and
- receive your data in a commonly used format, or have it sent to another controller.
To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject “Personal data request”. We will verify your identity and respond within the time required by Indonesian law, which is currently 3 × 24 hours for most requests. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Indonesian personal data protection authority.
8. Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential: to keep the site secure, remember items in your cart and keep you signed in to your account. The site cannot work properly without them.
- Performance: our hosting provider may collect anonymous technical data to keep the site fast and available.
We do not currently use advertising cookies. If we add analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may then stop working.
9. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. Our website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to enquiries and customer records is limited to the people at MOUN who need it, protected by individual accounts.
No website, email or messaging service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. By sharing personal data with us online, you acknowledge that we work to keep it as secure as reasonably possible, but cannot guarantee the absolute security of information sent over the internet. Please do not send us passwords, card numbers or other sensitive information by email or WhatsApp.
If a personal data breach occurs that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authority within 3 × 24 hours of confirming it, as Indonesian law requires.
10. Children
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we will let you know before it takes effect.
